Providing facilities for activity to take place is an essential component of being able to progress economic development and in helping to build strong, resilient communities. What services are provided from these facilities, when and how they are managed is equally important. The most successful community projects are ones that the community itself has a say in the development, delivery and management. The same can be said about the success of the facilities these services take place in.
That is why ERCET will work with the Council and others to enhance and sustain community facilities, to develop new facilities and deliver services to meet community needs. We will work to build capacity and support community organisations to own and manage local facilities and to develop and deliver services for community benefit and for the promotion of economic development and regeneration.
Key projects contributing to this business theme include our Graduate Internship Programme which is helping to build capacity in community organisations; Rouken Glen Training Centre which is expanding capacity for community development and learning; and our Community Nursery which aims to provide a much needed facility to enable parents to return to work and take up learning opportunities.
