ERCET has a strong commitment to green issues and sustainability.  We aim to ensure we work in a way which is sustainable, which respects the environment and which maximises the area’s opportunity in the Environmental Technologies sector.  We plan to develop projects and services which promote sustainability and which maximise East Renfrewshire’s natural resources and achieve its potential as a centre of excellence within a strong green economy.

We believe that in a small local authority area such as East Renfrewshire it is possible to make a real difference through targeted activities to residents, businesses and organisations, in for example, energy use, sustainable transport, reducing waste and increasing local food production, in order to achieve permanent change. We also recognise the opportunities that new ‘greener’ technology and work practices may bring in terms of economic development, jobs, employment and learning.

We have already contributed to lasting change through our highly successful Powerdown Project in Barrhead, Eaglesham and Waterfoot and our studies into the feasibility of Biomass and Renewable Energy .  Existing projects contributing to this business theme include Rouken Glen Training Centre which helps to develop horticulture skills, promotes food production and demonstrates waste recycling through vermiculture and biodiesel production and use.
